About the Scholarship
The O.R. Tambo Research Chair for Technology Entrepreneurship, funded by the National Research Foundation of South Africa, is offering scholarships for Master’s Degree programs (MSc/MBA/MPhil) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Business.
These scholarships are open to eligible candidates from Ghana and other African countries.
What are the Types of Scholarships Available?
The scholarships offered by the Chair come in three categories. The full, partial, and fee waiver scholarships. The category of scholarship awarded to an applicant depends on their economic needs as determined by the scholarship award committee.
What Does the Full Scholarships Cover?
Full scholarships cover the following.
- Tuition fees and other charges
- Monthly stipend
- Hostel accommodation
- Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)
- One round-trip flight ticket (for international (African) students only)
- International travel insurance cover (for international (African) students only)
What Do Partial Scholarships Cover?
- Tuition fees and other charges
- Hostel accommodation
- Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)
- One round-trip flight ticket (for international (African) students only)
- International travel insurance cover (for international (African) students only)
What Does Tuition Waiver Scholarships Cover?
Tuition waiver scholarships cover the following.
- Tuition fees and other charges
- Research grants (e.g., fieldwork, data analysis, etc.)
Requirements for Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for these scholarships, candidates must have the following.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree with first-class or second class (upper division) honors in Business Administration, Economics, or Social Sciences.
- Provide an internationally recognized Certificate of Proficiency in English (e.g., TOEFL or IELTS) if their bachelor’s degree was not in English.
- Demonstrate economic need for financial support to enroll in the Master’s degree program at KNUST.
- Hold citizenship of Ghana or another African country. Non-Ghanaian African applicants must have a student visa to legally study at KNUST.
- Commit to full-time availability for the entire period of study.
Application Process and Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following documents.
- Completed scholarship application form
- Completed economic needs assessment form
- Curriculum vitae (maximum two pages)
- Two reference letters
- Proof of English proficiency (only if bachelor’s degree was not in English)
- Official transcripts for bachelor’s degree
- Certified copies of official bachelor’s degree certificate
- Soft and hard copies of a letter of motivation outlining various aspects related to the scholarship application
- All supporting documents must be uploaded in a single zip file. Documents in French must have an official English translation.
- Ineligible, incomplete, or late applications will not be considered.
- Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview session.
